Apple’s upcoming iOS 18.4 update adds a much-requested option allowing users to set a default navigation app other than Apple Maps, but users outside of the European Union will not have access to that setting.
In the EU, iPhone users can now designate an app like Google Maps or Waze as your default navigation app on the iPhone by opening the Settings app and tapping “Apps” -> “Default Apps” -> “Navigation.”
Apple made the change in the Maps apps availability in response to the EU’s Digital Markets Act.
iOS 18.4 is currently in beta testing. The update is expected to be released to the general public in early April.
